EMDR Consultation

I provide EMDR consultation for therapists integrating EMDR into trauma-informed practice or pursuing EMDR certification. As an EMDRIA™ Certified Therapist and Consultant-in-Training, I offer collaborative, online consultation focused on EMDR case conceptualization, treatment planning, and confident integration into clinical work.

Who This Is For

I offer EMDR consultation for psychologists, therapists and counsellors who are either training in EMDR or already using EMDR in their practice and want thoughtful, collaborative support.

This may be a good fit if you:

  • are working toward EMDR certification through EMDRIA™

  • want support with case conceptualization and target selection

  • feel stuck or uncertain in the reprocessing phase

  • are integrating EMDR into a broader relational or trauma-informed approach

  • or want a reflective space to think through complex cases.

My consultation style is collaborative, grounded, and respectful of your clinical judgment and existing strengths.

My Background & EMDR Training

I am a Registered Psychologist, an EMDRIA™ Certified Therapist, and a Consultant-in-Training with a clinical focus on trauma, anxiety, shame, and relational patterns.

My work integrates EMDR with relational and nervous system–informed approaches, allowing space for both structured reprocessing and thoughtful clinical attunement. I value consultation as a space for reflection, integration, and continued professional growth — especially when the work feels nuanced, complex, or emotionally demanding.

How Consultation Sessions Work

Consultation sessions are offered online and can be booked as one-off sessions or as part of an ongoing certification process.

Sessions may include:

  • discussion of current cases,

  • reviewing specific EMDR phases or challenges,

  • collaborative problem-solving and reflection,

  • or support with integrating EMDR more confidently into your practice.

Consultation is intended to be supportive and collaborative rather than directive or evaluative. We work at a pace that feels clinically useful and aligned with your goals.

Session format: Individual consultation

Length: 50 minutes

Delivery: Online

Fee: $100 per session

Many of us come out of EMDR training excited and motivated, and then run into moments where the work doesn’t unfold the way we expected. Clients may feel overwhelmed, disengage from reprocessing, or say they want to go back to talk therapy — even when you’ve been thoughtful, careful, and well-prepared.

Often, this isn’t a sign that EMDR isn’t working or that you’ve done something wrong. It’s information. It usually means the work needs to slow down, resourcing needs more space, or a greater sense of internal safety needs to be built before moving forward. Consultation offers a place to step back, think together, and make sense of these moments so the work can feel clearer and more grounded again.

The key to good EMDR is good consultation.

What EMDR Consultation Can Support

Your Questions, Answered

  • Yes. I am an EMDRIA™ Certified Therapist and Consultant-in-Training (CIT) and provide EMDR consultation consistent with EMDRIA guidelines. Consultation hours may be applicable toward certification requirements.

  • A Consultant-in-Training has completed advanced EMDR training and is in the final stage of becoming an EMDRIA Approved Consultant. CITs provide EMDR consultation under EMDRIA standards while completing the remaining requirements for approved consultant status.

    • 20 hours of EMDR consultation

    • Documentation of at least 50 EMDR sessions with 25 different clients

    • Appropriate professional licensure and clinical experience

    • Two letters of recommendation from peers or colleagues

  • A Consultant-in-Training (CIT) can provide consultation toward EMDRIA certification, but can only provide up to 15 of the 20 required consultation hours for a single consultee; the remaining hours must be provided by an EMDRIA Approved Consultant™.

  • No. EMDR consultation is not the same as clinical supervision. Consultation is a collaborative, peer-based professional service focused on supporting the integration and use of EMDR in clinical practice. It does not involve managerial oversight, evaluative authority, or responsibility for clinical decision-making.

Consultation does not replace supervision and does not involve formal oversight of clinical competence, ethical responsibility, or employment-related requirements. Therapists remain fully responsible for their clinical work, ethical practice, and adherence to their regulatory body’s standards.

This distinction is consistent with professional and regulatory guidelines and helps ensure clarity, appropriate boundaries, and ethical practice.

  • Yes — all consultation sessions are offered online, making them accessible regardless of your location.

  • My consultation style is collaborative, grounded, and non-evaluative. I know how challenging EMDR work can feel at times — especially when cases are complex, emotionally demanding, or don’t unfold as expected — and how valuable it can be to have a thoughtful space to slow things down and think together. I aim to offer consultation that feels supportive rather than prescriptive, with an emphasis on clinical clarity, confidence, and practical integration of EMDR. I respect your existing clinical judgment and strengths, and view consultation as a shared process rather than an expert-driven hierarchy.
